Parent Information

This page is to help answer the questions that you may have when starting with 小宝宝 幼教, it is also used to help facilitate a smooth transition for your child. At any stage if you have any questions or concerns you are always welcome to discuss anything with your child’s Educator, Visiting teacher or our office staff.

Process of enquires to enrolment

  1. When families enrol in our service a time is arranged with the family for one of小宝宝 幼教 staff members to go out and meet with the family and child.
  2. During this meeting小宝宝 幼教 staff member will talk to the parents about the service and what the service does to support them as parents, their child who is in the care as well as the educator who will be providing the care for their child
  3. From the first point of contact with the family our staff try to gather as much information as possible, this helps to give the educator a summary of what the family is looking for to see if the child would be suitable.
  4. If the educator things that the family would be suitable then小宝宝 幼教 will arrange a time for the family to meet with the educator.

Transition into care

As a parent you can help to ensure a smooth transition for your child by:

  • Provide the Educator with as much information as possible especially around child’s routine, comforts and interests
  • Set aside some time that you can spend with your child before they start.
  • Talk to your child positively about their new childcare
  • At any time if you need more support, ideas or have questions talk to the educator or visiting teacher from小宝宝 幼教 they are familiar with the transition stage and can give you other suggestions to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

Requirements from Parents once child is enrolled

  1. Parents are required to:
  1. Communicate with the Educator on a regular basis, sharing their child’s interests, talking about how the child is doing at home and any other questions or concerns they may have around the child’s care and education
  2. Parents are required to check that the hours recorded on the child’s time sheet are correct and then sign at the end of each week.

Parents can access any time information concerning their child through their Educator. Parents are also welcomed to contact the designated Co-ordinator at any time during normal business hours to discuss anything about the child/family.

 

Fees

  1. Educators set their own fees between $5.00 and $7.50 per hour per child. 小宝宝 幼教 does not charge any fee for their service.
  2. If the child is to take leave the parents may be required to pay a holding fee of up to $2.50 per hour enrolled in the service, 小宝宝 幼教 will subsidise the holding fee if the child’s account is up to date before the first day of their holiday.
  3. Families that want to take holidays must take the full week and no more than 3 consecutive weeks.
  4. If a child is absent parents are required to pay absences if they have not given five working days’ notice.
  5. If educator is required to drive their own vehicle parents will pay 62c per kilometre to their Educator
  6. If parents would like to make any changes to the child’s care hours they are required to notify 小宝宝 幼教 immediately.
  7. If a child is finishing with the service parents agree to give two weeks’ notice and during that notice period they are required to pay the full fees. Parents must notify both educator and 小宝宝 幼教.
  8. If an educator is leaving the service they must also give two weeks’ notice to the parents of the children currently in their care.
  9. Parents agree to pay the educators fees on a weekly basis.
  10. Fees for casual and variable hours, that are those who have different hours each week, are charged 50 cents per hour extra.
  11. Parents agree to pay an Annual Administration Fee of up to $35 upon starting with the Educator and then yearly on the 1st April. This fee can be waived at the discretion of小宝宝 幼教.
  12. Parents agree that if a debt remains unpaid the debt will be sent to a Debt Collection Agency for recovery and they may be liable for collection and legal costs as well as the original amount.
  13. If a child’s account is in arrears parents agree to pay $10.00 penalty per month
  14. Parents agree with小宝宝 幼教 Terms of Trade which are reviewed from time to time.
  15. Parents are aware that care may be suspended for three weeks without notice if terms of trade are not adhered to, and a holding fee for those three weeks will be charged for.
  16. Parents agree that this is a contract between the Parents/Whanau and小宝宝 幼教.

 

 

Funding, Subsidy & Expenses

  1. 小宝宝 幼教 service is funded by the is Ministry of Education.
  2. 小宝宝 幼教receives funding for children enrolled in our service.

Funding is used for:

    1. A Fully qualified Co-ordinator who supports the educators with providing quality education and care of the children in our service
    2. Resources e.g. collage supplies, books, puzzles and toy library
    3. Professional development and workshops for educators and co-ordinators
    4. First aid training for all educators
    5. Social events for children, educators and families
    6. Costs for upgrading Maintain and upgrade structure and Educator’s educational environment.

An annual budget is available to parents, educators and the community detailing how the funding is being spent.

Policies

  1. Educators and parents are able to access the service policies at any time in either hard copy or digital
  2. Educators and parents are given the opportunity to give any ideas or feedback on the policies.
  3. Policies are reviewed and updated on a yearly basis or sooner if required
  1. A copy of the Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations 2008, and the Licensing Criteria for Home-based Education and Care Services 2008 are available for both parents and educators. These can be accessed by making an appointment with the co-ordinator, These can also be seen on the Ministry of Education’s website www.moe.govt.nz
  2. All co-ordinators qualifications will be displayed and be available for viewing.
  3. The license for 小宝宝 幼教is displayed in our office.

  

Non-Compliance Complaints Procedure

小宝宝 幼教 welcomes feedback on all areas of service, this can be done through your child’s Educator and/or Co-ordinator at any time.

If at any stage someone wishes to make a complaint regarding any non-compliance with the Education, Regulations or the Licensing Criteria for Early Childhood Education they can do so By writing to the Service Provider’s Contact Person:
